Introduction of LED Lightings

LED Lightings

LED is a highly energy efficient lighting technology and has the potential to fundamentally change the future of lighting in the World. LED lighting is very different from other lighting sources such as incandescent bulbs and CFLs.LED manufacturing technologies have certainly improved over the last few years India but the requirements have also increased. Dependency on China is reduced by 70 to 80 % as government supported mission of Make in India. LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. Because of the low power usage of LEDs, they are becoming extremely popular for light sources. LED Lights will start at full brightness, instantly, every time. LED Lights are a benefit because they switch on and off instantly.
In industrial sector LEDs are able to withstand shock, vibration and extreme temperature.LED lighting is more efficient, versatile, and lasts longer. LEDs are “directional” light sources, which means they emit light in a specific direction, unlike incandescent and CFL, which emit light and heat in all directions. That means LEDs are able to use light and energy more efficiently in a various application. LEDs are currently used for a wide variety of different applications such as: residential lighting, pharmaceutical industry, architectural, automotive, broadcasting, electronic instrumentation, entertainment and gaming, the military, traffic and transportation. Since LEDs are focused lights they prove best at specific lighting tasks such as desk lamps, reading lights, night lights, security lights, spot lights, accent lights and lighting for signage. Common LED colors include white, Warm white, natural white, red, green, and blue. Colored LEDs are widely used as signal lights, indication lights, garden Lights & in field of decoration. LEDs are made from nontoxic materials, unlike fluorescent lighting that uses mercury that may pose a danger to the environment.Improved safety may be LED’s most important benefit. LED’s are also recyclable and considered “green” or Earth-Friendly.

LEDs are small and provide unique design opportunities. Types of LED lights are panel lights in shape of round & square, flood Lights, street lights, tube lights, Bulbs, High bay lights & decorative lights. Some LED light fixtures may have LEDs built–in as a permanent light source.

LEDs offer benefits which are explained more in detailed below:
  • LED lights generate virtually no heat therefore they are cool to the touch and can be left on for hours without incident or consequence if touched. In comparison, incandescent lighting expels 90% of the energy it consumes via heat, making the bulbs hot to the touch. LEDs reduce the potential for safety risks such as burns and fires.
  • LEDs are extremely energy efficient and consume up to 70% less power than incandescent bulbs.
  • money and energy is saved in maintenance and replacement costs due to the long LED lifespan.
  • LEDs have a lifespan of up to 55,000 hours compared to 1,500 hours for incandescent bulbs
  • Long lifespan of LEDs will dramatically reduce maintenance costs and lower long-term operating costs compared to traditional incandescent and fluorescent lights.
LEDs are rapidly becoming the preferred lighting solution in residential, Commercial, industrial sector. LED technology is continually advancing – producing brighter LED lights. Now a days Energy saving is paying a key role of economic development. Leading this knowledge exchange so that energy efficiency can deliver its full potential in support of globally shared energy and environmental policy goals.

India is one of the fastest growing nations in the world. The country is one of the largest energy markets globally representing the aspirations of one billion plus people. India is projected to see its energy demand more than double by 2040. With this projected growth forecast comes the responsibility of sustainably producing power, reducing carbon emissions and mitigating climate change. On the demand side, efforts are being made to efficiently use energy through innovative ways. LED has delivered tangible multiple benefits like energy savings, avoided carbon emissions, reduced consumer bills in India.
